This year The Makeup Show Dallas is taking it to new heights and bringing all the stocks! So we're calling all industry professionals, Makeup Artists, Estheticians, Photographers, Hairstylists, Beauty Influencers to celebrate the 2017 show happening in Dallas!

This industry has grown tremendously over 10 year span, I mean I remember when I first started in the industry things were totally different. Technology wasn't as advanced as it is today. The access to information was there but it's way more access now then it's ever been. We have a diverse community of artists with different voices, visions and experiences so this is the best time to discuss the change in the industry! This year The Makeup Show is bringing something new to Dallas called the Town Hall hosted by James Vincent who is the Director of Education & Artist Relations at The Makeup Show. He is joined by a panel of artists and experts, where they discuss the change, current topics, debate timely issues, present ideas, and voice opinions, ask questions and have an opportunity to engage with executives and artists and explore some of the hot topics in today's makeup industry. So yes, this is a social event to discuss the things that are important to us as an artist! 

I encourage you to come out, grab a cocktail if you like and meet us at the Town Hall. 

Also what I love about The Makeup Show is that they care about the industry because we are a community! There has been a lot of events going on with Hurricane Harvey and it has really done some damage here in Texas. Many artist lost everything including they're makeup kits which for many is their livelihood because they do it full time. The Makeup Show will be accepting donations and selling Raffle tickets for large prizes of makeup and tools.

100% of the proceeds will be split with half going to the The Family Place, a local Dallas organization that helps to end domestic violence and the other half to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund to help those affected by this terrible storm in the greater Houston area. So if you have any donations or you would like to help in anyway buying a Raffle Ticket is a great way to help your community.

The Face Competition

The Makeup Show announces The Face Competition is a live competition bringing makeup artists at all levels of their career and all areas of the industry together to prove themselves and show their skills in a competition that puts your artistry in the spotlight and pushes you to show us your best.  Individual makeup artists from the Dallas area market and all over the world are invited to come together to compete against their colleagues and prove that their skills in beauty, body, fashion & FX makeup set them apart from the rest.

Mentors will guide all chosen teams throughout the competition. Teams will be chosen based solely on what they see and review during the application process.

The Makeup Show Dallas is nearly approaching and I get asked questions quite often about the show. Some questions are asked more then the other so I wanted to build this FAQS post which is actually on the website but I do understand that some people don't navigate through the site so I try to make things simple where people can just click one link and read. 

IS THE MAKEUP SHOW OPEN TO THE PUBLIC?

 The Makeup Show is a PRO-focused beauty event open only to those in the beauty and fashion industry. Makeup artists, hairstylists, estheticians, cosmetologists, agents, models, stylists, photographers, industry insiders and anyone that works or studies in under the umbrella of beauty and fashion are permitted attendees.

ARE THERE GROUP DISCOUNTS & SALES? 

Yes, any student currently enrolled in a beauty/hair school is allowed to attend.  Students receive 10% discount on tickets and MUST show student ID or enrollment papers at the door.

ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED TO ATTEND THE MAKEUP SHOW?

All children under the age of 8 are complimentary. Children above the age of 8 are to have a ticket for entrance but allowed to accompany their guardians.

HOW DO I RECIEVE MY TICKETS?

We recommend you purchase your ticket in advance on our website.  Once you have successfully gone through the registration process you will receive an email confirmation with a QR code.  Please bring this confirmation to the entrance of The Makeup Show, in order to be scanned and given your wristband for entry. Note if you have purchased your tickets through someone who is selling group tickets you should communicate with them and organize a time to pick up your wristband before the show. 

I CAN'T GO TO THE SHOW CAN I GET A REFUND OR GIVE TO FRIEND?

All tickets are NON REFUNDABLE and NON TRANSFERABLE. The name that the ticket was booked on must be the person who comes with the confirmation and picks up the ticket.

HOW WILL THE SHOW BENEFIT ME/MY COMPANY

As a salon, spa or boutique owner you will be able to learn about the newest brands, products and techniques in the industry. As a professional freelancing or working for a beauty brand or retailer you will be able to educate yourself about the newest products, techniques and brands, as well as networking with company executives and high level artists in order to further your career. Pro-discounts ranging from 10-60% is typically in effect from participating companies as well as companies allow registration to pro-industry benefits.

HOW IS THIS SHOW DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER MAKEUP TRADE SHOWS?

The Makeup Show is strictly only open to those in the industry and offers access to pro and prestige brand products and education that is not offer elsewhere.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE MAJOR ASPECTIS OF THE INDUSTRY THE SHOW WILL BE COVERING? 

The Makeup Show helps both the ne* and experienced in the industry. Those in school or just starting out can learn from basic seminars and networking as well as hands-on workshops.  Those who have been in the industry and are experts can still expand their education by taking hands-on workshops and seminars. The Makeup Show is also a place to network and build your industry connections.

ARE PRODUCTS SOLD DIRECTLY AT THE SHOW?

All exhibitors are given the option to sell products on the floor, 90% do and give a pro-discount (10-60%).  Most exhibitors take both cash and credit card. We recommend you come prepared with both forms of payment as well as bring your pro credentials as some ask again to see them to receive further discounts

ARE THE EDUCATION SESSIONS FREE TO ATTEND?

With the purchase of your show ticket, you are allowed onto the exhibitor show floor, main floor seminar spaces A & B, as well as the Keynote & Business Forums.  The only additional fees are for the Hands-On Workshops and Focus Sessions.

Reminiscing on one of my favorite collaborations with The Makeup Show Dallas + The Perfect Face! I will never forget the day. That year I wanted to focus on newer brands that are in Houston that will be featured at The Makeup Show Dallas. I normally always host James Vincent events in Houston who is the Director of Education & Artist Relationships at The Makeup Show Dallas. I had a strong feeling that merging these two together in one room would be the best collaboration I put together. 

When I first met Danielle Doyle the founder & chief of The Perfect Face  it felt like I've known her for years. I wasn't expecting to speak to her when I initially reached out to her company. I don't know what I was expecting but I was a bit optimistic when I contacted them and they were so pleasant. Danielle Doyle is so many things in my eyes! A Southern Belle, that's classy with a beautiful spirit like none other! I'm so glad that we connected and stay connected.

The goal of this event was to introduce James VIncent to the Artist of Houston who was not familiar with who James Vincent was and to collaborate with one of the newer brands that would be not only a vendor at the show but one of the featured educators at the show. 

I talk about James periodically on this blog but even with that I knew a lot of artist were clueless on who James Vincent was and that was the purpose of this collaboration. I knew once he took the floor he would totally warm the hearts of all of the artists in the room. Danielle also talked about The Perfect Face and the seminar she would be teaching at the show which was about makeup for pageants.  She also set up a booth at the collaboration event and gave 10% off for the artists that was there. And we sold tickets for The Makeup Show Dallas.

Overall this collaboration was a success! If it wasn't for The Makeup Show Dallas these opportunities probably wouldn't have existed.

At the end we had a Beauty Mixer where we networked, ate, took pictures and had a little fun.
